• What stays here. Waking, listening for you, and turning to look all happen on the device; nothing is sent anywhere until you are actually talking to it.
• Your model, your terms. Heavier reasoning goes to the model you point it at — your account, your key, your choice.
• You can see it. The status LED is on whenever the eye or mic is capturing, and the head's motion tells you what it's looking at.
• No lock-in. What runs on the device runs without us. No account to revoke, and no server of ours it cannot live without.

Harness is an MCP server on your network. Your own agents can see through it, hear through it, and speak through it. If your agent can call tools, it can use the bench.

What is the first run?

The first small production batch. Joining the list costs nothing and gets you the working prototype demo, the real price and the ship date before anyone else. If you want to hold a place in that batch once you've seen the prototype, there'll be a refundable deposit. We won't ask for one before then.

No date yet. We're not going to name one we can't keep. There's seven months of hardware work in the build log, all of it dated, and the list hears about a ship date before anyone else does. You'll see the working prototype before we ask for a deposit.

What does "it is an MCP server" mean?

Harness is an MCP server on your network. An agent can capture a frame, listen and transcribe, speak, and run an ask-and-answer turn in one call. Full list at /mcp.

Do I need to know electronics?

No. You plug in USB-C, paste in a model key once, and then double-tap and talk.

What does it cost?

There isn't an honest number yet. The bill of materials for the first run is still being priced, and anything we said now would be a guess. The list gets the real price first, along with the reasoning.

Is there a subscription, an account, or a cloud?

None from us. The device does the waking and looking on its own. For the thinking it talks to whichever model you choose, on your own key, so any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works: Claude, GPT, or a free local model through Ollama if you'd rather keep it on your own machine. Without a key it still wakes and turns to look, it just can't answer.

What can't it do?

It can't see through an enclosure and it isn't a multimeter. Small text under about a centimetre is a coin flip. And if you've already wired something wrong and powered it up, it can't undo that. Think of it as a second pair of eyes.
